Answer:

  • Rice is the staple food crop of India.
  • It requires a hot and humid climate with temperatures above 25ยฐC and high rainfall (100 cm+), or irrigation in drier areas.
  • It grows best in alluvial soil found in river valleys and coastal plains.
  • Major rice-producing states include West Bengal, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
