Example 1

Find the probability of getting a head when a coin is tossed once. Also find the probability of getting a tail.

Solution:
When we toss a coin once, there are two possible outcomes:

  • Head (H)
  • Tail (T)

Let’s find the probability of getting a head:
There is only 1 head out of 2 possible outcomes.

So,
       P(head) = 1/2

Now, let’s find the probability of getting a tail:
There is only 1 tail out of 2 possible outcomes.

So,
       P(tail) = 1/2
